On The Hottest Day in April

Lancaster, PA

On an unexpectedly sweltering April day, my daughter Harmoni joined me as my enthusiastic sidekick for a photo expedition through downtown Lancaster, exploring the charming city square. Despite the heat, we strolled leisurely, tracing a small circle that spanned about an hour from start to finish. As we wandered, I focused my lens on the unusual: reflections dancing in the windows, and the overlooked details that usually escape the hurried eye. Together, we captured the hidden beauty and vibrant life pulsating through the city, each reflection telling its own unique story.

The Prince Street Garage

The primary reason for our journey was a specific vision I had for photographing the architectural heart of the Prince Street Garage. I imagined standing at the core of its circular design, pointing my lens upward to catch the light streaming down, highlighting the gracefully curved edges. Sadly, our plans were foiled as the center was closed to the public, dashing our hopes of capturing this unique perspective.

But...I didn't let that spoil the whole trip.  We grabbed the camera bag, walked out into the sun and spent the rest of our journey walking Prince, King and Queen Streets respectively.

Here are the shots I got.

Enjoy!

The One Most Important Stop We Made

After an hour of walking and no drink in sight, Harmoni and I were desperately in need of some refreshment. As we wandered, a coffee shop caught Harmoni's eye, promising a much-needed respite.

There, I discovered the most incredible strawberry banana smoothie I've ever tasted. Considering I've been a connoisseur of smoothies for 45 years and am extremely picky, this is no small feat. The smoothie was a perfect blend of flavors, instantly becoming a favorite.

The spot that served this delightful refreshment was New Holland Coffee on E King Street in Lancaster.

Known for their coffee, which Harmoni herself indulged in, and an ambience google review worthy, the New Holland Coffee shop gained two new customers mainly for their incredible smoothie.  With her coffee in one hand, my daughter would sneak sips of my smoothie, with a reluctancy to give it back

So if your anywhere in New Holland, Lititz or Lancaster, definitely check them out...and grab a smoothie.  You won't regret it.
