Biography
A military brat at birth, Cari "Eva" Mercer dedicated her late teens and early 20's to the Air Force as a Radio and Television broadcaster, and later becoming a journalist/photojournalist for a small West Virginia newspaper where she learned the art of documenting life.
It wasn't until she was in her mid 30's that she transitioned to portraiture and conceptual photography that she fell in love with the more posed concept of it all. It has been in the more recent years that she has fallen in love with still life photography, capturing everything she can get her hands on...playing with shadow, texture and light.
As a veteran, survivor of SA, DV and a religious cult, a wife and mother, Mercer puts her extensive life experiences into her concepts and her art, making sure to create emotive and inspiring pieces.
She also puts a lot of her time and effort into working with survivors to build therapeutic and healing photography concepts, as well as providing commissioned sessions to anyone who contacts her with a love of her style.
Work
My career evolved into a passion for portraiture, conceptual, and still life photography, where I skillfully blend technical expertise with creative vision to capture compelling stories. My approach to photography emphasizes the importance of light, shadow, and composition—skills that I have meticulously honed over the years. Committed to excellence, I strive to create evocative images that not only resonate on a personal and artistic level but also reflect the unique narratives of those I photograph. I am eager to bring my distinctive perspective and refined aesthetic to new and challenging environments, ensuring that each project is not just accomplished, but transformed into a meaningful artistic expression.
